Masters in Ministry

The Master of Ministry degree is for the graduate, offering a unique opportunity to develop skills in critical thinking, while synthesizing understanding of the real-world issues that affect the Christian walk and the church today.

A total of 36 Credits/Hours is required, consisting of 9 core subjects, 1 elective (27 credits) + 18,000 to 20,000 word thesis (9 credits).

THE BIBLE

BIBL 501 – Biblical Interpretation

This course thoroughly studies hermeneutical principles, equipping students with analytical tools to interpret biblical texts contextually and theologically. By bridging academic theory with practical application, students will develop the skills needed to apply interpretative techniques in diverse ministry contexts, academic research, and personal faith development. Rooted in the call to rightly handle the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15, NIV), this course ensures that students can approach Scripture accurately and honestly.

 

CHURCH MINISTRY

CHMN 501 – Church Ministries

This course examines the multifaceted nature of church ministries, combining theological foundations with practical approaches to leadership, administration, and pastoral care. It aims to equip students with both academic understanding and hands-on strategies for effective ministry within diverse church contexts. Inspired by the biblical principle of serving one another in love (Galatians 5:13, NIV), this course prepares students to minister effectively in various church roles.

CHMN 502 – Pastoral Duties

This course explores foundational concepts and contemporary applications of church ministries, providing students with theoretical understanding and practical insights into the ministry’s organizational, educational, and pastoral functions. Students will gain the skills needed to fulfill their ministerial duties with excellence, guided by the example of Paul’s charge to Timothy to fulfill his ministry (2 Timothy 4:5, NIV).

 

COMMUNICATION

CMMC 501 – Biblical Teaching

This course examines diverse facets of church ministries, emphasizing the theological foundations and practical applications within contemporary Christian communities. Students will gain both academic understanding and practical skills needed for effective ministry leadership. Guided by the biblical command to teach others what has been learned (2 Timothy 2:2, NIV), this course prepares students to be impactful and relevant educators in the modern world.

CMMC 502 – Biblical Preaching

This course provides an in-depth exploration of the art of biblical preaching. It focuses on crafting messages with transformative potential through accurate scriptural interpretation and the strategic use of visuals, narratives, and other dynamic communication tools. Inspired by Paul’s exhortation to preach the word (2 Timothy 4:2, NIV), this course equips students to deliver sermons that are both theologically sound and spiritually impactful.

 

COUNSELING

CNSL 501 – Biblical Counseling

This course explores the integration of biblical principles in counseling practices, equipping students with the understanding and compassionate approaches needed to address various counseling scenarios within a ministry context. Students will gain proficiency in applying scriptural insights to counseling challenges, offering theologically sound and practically effective support. Rooted in the wisdom of Proverbs 15:22 (NIV), this course prepares students to offer counsel that is aligned with God’s truth.

 

LEADERSHIP

LDS 501 – Biblical Leadership

This course examines the principles that have enabled some churches to grow and flourish, even in challenging cultural contexts. Students will learn what it took for these leaders to achieve success and discover what principles will work in their personal ministry settings. Rooted in the biblical principle of building the church (Matthew 16:18, NIV), this course prepares students to apply effective growth strategies to their ministries.

 

THEOLOGY

THCY 501 – Biblical Theology

This course explores the principal theological motifs of the Old and New Testaments, guiding students through the compilation of the Bible, the persistent narrative of God’s message, and the enduring nature of God’s intentions within the human experience. It will accentuate pivotal figures and locations to enhance comprehension of biblical history. Rooted in the biblical promise that all Scripture is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16, NIV), this course provides a comprehensive understanding of biblical theology.

 

RESEARCH

RSCH 500 – Thesis Writing- & RSCH 501 – Masters Research Project

This course requires the student to apply their skills and knowledge. This project will encompass the crafting of comprehensive papers which are to focus on specific course topics selected by the student. These papers will  showcase their scholarly proficiency and theological insights
